ARK 2 Parasaur - Best Beginner Mount & Radar Guide

Honestly tbh the parasaur is literally the first thing you should tame and I mean I've died to this so many times before figuring it out basically you just bola it and slingshot it and suddenly you have a mount that can gather berries like crazy and its radar ping is kind of awesome ngl I'm not 100% sure but I think the saddle unlocks at level 9 which is pretty much the lowest in the game so anyway if you're new this is your first real milestone and you'll love it trust me because nothing beats that feeling of riding your first tame around the beach and not getting eaten by raptors for once

Key Features

Okay so the radar ping thing is honestly one of my favorite abilities in the whole game tbh you activate it and it scans for nearby threats like players wild carnivores traps and stuff like that and shows red dots on your HUD with a 30-second cooldown which might sound kind of long but trust me it saves your life in unknown areas and I've literally avoided so many raptors this way it's not even funny and also the berry gathering is insane like you just walk through berry bushes and get 5x yield compared to picking by hand so basically it's your early game narcoberry machine and mejoberry factory which you'll need for taming other stuff or whatever. And the saddle unlocks at level 9 which is honestly the lowest in the whole game you can be riding before most people have even figured out how to make a bola which is kind of wild when you think about it and I remember when I first started I thought the parasaur was just a weak starter tame but it actually stays useful for way longer than you'd expect you get the idea. But also the warning call is pretty cool too the parasaur automatically alerts you when hostile creatures get within like 50 meters and when paired with the radar ping it's basically a perimeter security system that costs you nothing except some mejoberries and a bit of patience honestly.

Strategy Guide

For day 1 you literally just need a bola and a slingshot and maybe like 40 stones and you can find parasaurs all over the beaches so find one bola it and 3 or 4 tranq rocks to the head and it's yours honestly it's that easy and I've done this so many times now it's basically muscle memory and then feed it mejoberries for the best taming efficiency because mejos are everywhere on the beach anyway so there's no reason to use regular berries unless you're really desperate or whatever. And for base security honestly just park like 2 or 3 parasaurs around your base perimeter on turret mode and their warning calls give you early detection for raids and wild dino spawns which has saved my base more times than I can count I'm not even exaggerating because having that extra 10 seconds to react when a carno wanders in is the difference between losing everything and just losing a parasaur you get the idea. Also resource runs with a parasaur are kind of underrated ngl its weight stat is decent for a beginner mount and you can haul early metal stone crystal and stuff like that without too much trouble but obviously you'll want to upgrade to an Ankylo and Argentavis combo later when you can actually tame those things because that's just way more efficient for serious farming.
