Tribe Warfare, Complete PvP Raiding & Defense Guide

Dominate the battlefield with proven raiding tactics and unbreachable base designs. From stealth infiltrations to full-scale alpha tribe wars, this guide covers every PvP strategy in ARK 2.

Base Defense Principles

Base defense is literally the only thing standing between you and waking up to nothing and I've been offline raided like probably a dozen times and every single time it was because I got lazy about one of these fundamentals, honeycombing is your best friend honestly, you layer walls with airlocks between layers and each layer adds 20 plus C4 to breach, use metal or Tek for outer layers and stone for inner buffers, and if you're not honeycombing your base you're basically inviting raiders in for free tbh, any halfway decent raider will find the weak spots and punch right through.

Turret coverage is the second thing you absolutely cannot mess up, heavy turrets at multiple elevations with no blind spots anywhere and I mean anywhere not even a tiny gap, Plant Species X for the slow effect, Tek turrets on players only mode saves so much ammo on dinos, and I cannot tell you how many times I've watched someone's base get breached because they had one small blind spot the raiders found, it's always the one spot you think nobody will check and then someone checks it and that's game over.

Vault placement is another thing people mess up constantly and ngl I've done it too, never put vaults on ground floor, put them on upper floors or underwater, surround with turrets, use multiple smaller vaults instead of one giant vault because a single big vault is just a big juicy target that screams come raid me, and offline raid protection, ARK 2's ORP system reduces damage to offline tribe structures by 80 percent after 15 minutes which is honestly a lifesaver but server admins can configure the timer so check your server settings, I've been on servers where this was turned off completely and it was absolute chaos like people would just get wiped every single night and quit the server within a week, turret positioning turret ammo vault placement ORP settings and all that stuff, you get the idea, miss any one of these and someone is gonna find the hole in your defense

Raiding Tactics

Raiding is where things get really fun and honestly there's nothing quite like the adrenaline of a successful raid, turret soaking is pretty much the first thing you learn because you can't breach anything until the turrets are dry, the Stegosaurus with hard plate is the number one soaker and a high level stego with an ascendant saddle can absorb 10k plus bullets, that's not an exaggeration I've literally watched one tank an entire tower of heavies while we breached the wall like it was nothing, back it with a Daeodon healing and you can keep soaking for ages and honestly it's kind of broken how well this works.

Breaching is all about finding the weak spot, use rocket launchers or C4 on the weakest wall which is usually upper floors because most people reinforce ground level and forget the ceiling, focus fire on one wall segment and do not spread damage because that just wastes explosives, I've seen so many raids fail because people were shooting rockets at random walls instead of focusing one spot and then they ran out of ammo and had to just go home which is embarrassing tbh.

Infiltration is where the real skill comes in, grappling hooks parachutes and cloaking all together, find the gaps in turret coverage because there's always gaps somewhere, use rocket jump to bypass ground level defenses, and I've had some of my best raids sneaking through the top of bases while the defenders were all watching the front door like complete idiots, then there's the FOB a forward operating base, build a small raid base within rocket range with just one foundation a bed a fabricator and a mortar, buffing respawn proximity is huge because running back from across the map after dying basically loses you the raid, and you need somewhere to store loot as you pull it out, I've died carrying ascendant blueprints back to base because I didn't have a FOB and some random picked them off my body, that feeling when you lose a mastercraft shotgun blueprint because you were too lazy to set up a proper FOB is something I don't wish on anyone, so yeah FOBs turret soaking breaching patterns infiltration routes and all that stuff is what separates the good raiders from the ones who just waste C4 and go home with nothing
